When I select most of the assignments and click update, they usually automatically update. Sometimes I come to assignments and get this message: “Edits have been made to the imported version of “name of file”. You will lose those edits by updating. Update anyway?" Does anyone know what this means?

Preventing InCopy Text (Paragraph/Character) Style Changes
Has anyone found a solution prevent an InCopy user from adjusting the point size and font of content?
We set up styles in InDesign, but when the content is shared with someone with InCopy access, they feel the need to adjust everything. While the InDesign styles do override the InCopy styles, we have to manually change each section after each round of revisions (we do many) and it wastes a lot of time.
We need a way to allow them to change the content, but not adjust the text. Anyone have a solution?

prevent duplicate user colors in track changes prefs
'Prevent Duplicate User Colours' is on but isn't preventing duplicate user colours in story view in InDesign and InCopy. Changes by multiple users show up highlighted with same colors. We've tried unchecking the option and rechecking it to no avail.

set to Layout view at start up
I know how to set to Layout view with existing window.
app.windows[0].viewTab=ViewTabs.LAYOUT_VIEW;
But how do I set to Layout view with no window?
Background: Customer deletes InCopy-Defaults and wants InCopy to run in Layout view. So in the GUI you would simply set Layout view.
But that seems to be impossible to do by script. Unless I am missing something.

Lose text within embedded graphic with InCopy files
When I edit text, in Incopy, that is inside an embedded graphic, and save and close to work on the file at a later time, I lose the text within the graphic. It shows up as overflow, which means I have to delete the entire graphic and retype the info. This does not happen consistently. What is happening to cause this?
Can I only save changes to a text box feature by stating the changes in a note? Can only InDesign make changes to that embedded graphic?

CP1252.txt error message
Hello InCopy Community:
I have a new user that has InCopy CS6 (version 8.0.1) installed on their Windows System 7 computer. Most of the time, the software opens the files successfully.
However, on some files the InCopy user receives the following error when opening the document:
"Adobe InDesign is missing required files. Please reinstall."
"Missing files: \Program Files\Common Files\TypeSupport\...\CP1252.TXT"
We checked the InCopy machines Program Files and Program Files (x86) directories and the CP1252.TXT file appears in both paths.
I also checked the machine running InDesign CS6 (also Win System 7) and the CP1252.TXT file resides in the appropriate paths.
Is anyone familiar with this issue and have a solution?

InDesign and InCopy Compatibility
I have InDesign and InCopy CS6 Version 8.0 on one computer and InCopy CC Version 9.0 on other computers. I'm having a lot of difficulty working on individual documents in InCopy. On one of the InCopy CC Version 9.0 Computers, the software isn't correctly identifying when the document in the assignment is copyfit. On another InCopy CC Version 9.0 Computer, the changes made aren't saving and then can't be seen on other computers with InDesign and InCopy CS6 Version 8.0. Is this because of the differences in the software? Is there a way that I can fix this?

InCopy proof reading on iPad?
Hi,
I´m new to InCopy, but not to InDesign.
Now, I´ve got a question if my editor of the magazine I do layout for, can use an iPad for proof reading/do edits on the text in the magazine with an iPad?
It would be extremely convenient to edit the editorial stuff from an iPad (e.g. with a small keyboard), when on trips or vacations.
If it´s not possible at the moment, maybe Adobe has plans for this? Anyone with information on this topic?
Any other solutions to solve this?

InCopy CC (2015) crash on startup - Mac El Capitan
Hi - Tried to start my InCopy CC (2015) on my El Capitan and it seems that it is crashing on startup.
Tried the following:
- Uninstall and reinstall and so far same crash
- Disabled my user fonts - tried but still fail
Please help? All other Adobe CC products works flawlessly including InDesign CC but somehow it fails. Here is the crash code: InCopy - Pastebin.com

Set Windows to open .indd files with InCopy?
I'm trying to set .indd files to open with InCopy by default. When I point .indd files to InCopy.exe, it won't allow it. Any tips?

User dictionary limitations?
I want to use a custom word list with InCopy's built in spell checker. The word list contains more than 150,000 words. I already tried importing the word list to the current user dictionary. Although the speller recognizes words from the word list it doesn't provide suggestions from the user dictionary. I also tried creating a new user dictionary and then importing the list to the file but the same behavior occurs. Does the user dictionary have a file size or number of words limit? This list is essential to my line of work.

InCopy/InDesign issue
Whenever I open an InCopy document that is linked to InDesign I receive an message that says 'The content is locked and cannot be modified'. I then must keep the return key down for a long time in order to open the file. In the background another message pops up saying 'Open documents - import snippet'. It almost seems that I have to acknowledge each text frame. It is nothing to do with 'Checking in/out' content as we have tried both options. Please help!
We are using the CC version of InDesign and InCopy and previously never had this issue.

Is there a "Reveal in Explorer" option (or similar) in InCopy?
I think I've exhausted every place I can look for this on a PC with no luck. On a Mac you can simply right-click on the document's title in the tab, however on a PC I can find nothing similar. If anybody knows a way to do this I would be very happy to be enlightened - and if there is no way I'll be glad to add it as a feature request.

InCopy Crashes when trying to open InDesign file.
InCopy just spins when trying to open an Indesign file and will eventualy cause InCopy to crash. When InCopy is then reopened the file will be recovered but the only tab available is layout view, both story view and gallery view are missing. The editor needs story view to make corrections.
The designer sets up the file with InDesign CS6 v. 8.0.1 on a mac w/osx v.10.7.5 the editor was using InCopy CS6 v.8.0.1 but has received new hardware and is on v8.0.2 windows 7. One of our Editors does receive this message Adobe InDesign is missing required files, Please reinstall.
We have upgraded editors hardware to allow more resorces.
Please advise what may be the cause.

InCopy not recognizing updated assignments
We are working with InDesign/InCopy CC2015 and are keeping Assignments in a folder in the Creative Cloud.
1. Designer creates assignment in InDesign.
2. Editor checks out assignment in InCopy and notices that designer didn't add all stories to assignments. Editor checks assignment back in.
3. Designer checks out assignment and adds missing stories to the assignment. Then checks assignment in. Verifies that all text boxes are now part of the assignment.
4. Editor checks out assignment, but the additional stories are STILL not shown as NOT being a part of the article.
5. The assignment's ICMA file in the local folder Creative Cloud folders on both the editor and designer's computer is shown with the same date/time.

When writing in InCopy, can I insert commands to "place graphic here"?
Let's say I'm writing an article in InCopy and there is a place where I know that I want a pie chart inserted. Can I include some kind of command so that when the InCopy work gets flowed into InDesign, InDesign goes and gets that pie chart and puts it where I want it?

Indesign CS4/ InCopy issue
Hi, I have a question regarding an issue I am having.
I'm currently working on a book and I have the chapters saved as multiple indesign files (one file per chapter) they are set up for editing in InCopy as well. There have been changes inserted into InCopy from an external source and I have re styled the changes in InDesign CS4 (overset text, font issues, layout changes, etc) and saved them. The files haven't been touched in a week and when I go to open them now none of the changes I have made are there. I've checked the stories folder and for a few chapters there seem to be a conflicted copy of some of the icml files. I am just curious if anyone has experienced a similar issue and if it is possible to avoid having to go back and make all the changes again.
