User is complaining they can only save as high res pdf not low res pdf.
Is there a way to do this in InCopy?

A few of our editors are looking for a way to have a predetermined line of text added to a story via a shortcut key. For example "if you would like to comment please write us at example@eg.com". We are using XP pro and InCopy CS5. I'm not familiar with scripting but if there is a way to do it using scripts I am not opposed to learning it.
We are having InCopy stories that generate errors that I cannot find much information about online. This happens in CS4 and CS5 documents. We have no documents that originated in CS5.5 so I don't know if InCopy CS5.5 will CAUSE the issue, but I know that CS5 files opened in CS 5.5 have seen this issue manifest. Files that are functioning normally at check-in will just open next time with one of these two errors. No crash or strange behavior before suddenly the error appears. We can have dozens of stories in a document (or hundreds) and one will corrupt in this manner. An hour, a day, a week, maybe a month later, another file will die. There seems to be no discrenable pattern.
The errors are "Not Well Formed" and "Junk After Document Element." I can open the .icml files in a text editor and find and (usually) fix the problem, but wonder how the files are corrupting? The "junk after document element" files will have a complete duplicate of the content of the file starting immediatley following the </document> tag. It is as though instead of writing just the changes to the file when checked in, InCopy appends a whole new document, beginning with the <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="yes"?> tag.
The "not well formed" files appear almost the same, but instead of the document starting over after the </document> tag, it will have a copy of itself inserted willy-nilly in the middle of the file. This one is much harder to fix…
Has anyone else seen anything like this?

We are using the assignment workflow with InDesign and InCopy CS5 all on Macs. When our designers create the layout and create the assignment file everything looks fine on their end. When the editor opens the assignment file in InCopy the layout will be off either by just a few lines or massively off. The fonts are all correct for both users. There isn't any odd text wrapping added. If the editor opens the InDesign file in InCopy it will appear all right. This seemed to fix the problem once, but it's not working this 2nd time. Is this a known bug? Or is there a workaround for this? Below are examples:

Will our editors InCopy CS6 work with my InDesign CS5.5?
Hi,
We just updated to the CS6 InCopy/InDesign workflow, and are experiencing some strange problems. Everything worked fine for the first few days, but now in InCopy when a change is made, it won't allow us to save. All the save options are greyed out altogher. In effect, we can't do anything if we can't save what we are doing. Files can still be checked in an out, but no save function is available.
Also troubling is the how normally checked-in or non-editable content is greyed out in InCopy. Even when a story is checked out now, the block of copy is remains greyed out until typing, then it becomes 100% opaque.
We are working on PCs with Windows 7 over a company LAN.
Thanks for any help, it certainly isn't easy to find!

I'm having an intermittant problem with several users in incopy cs6 where the undo and redo commands will stop functioning, both the CTRL-Z and SHIFT-CTRL-Z shortcuts and the commands from the edit menu. A restart of the program will usually fix the problem, for a short ime anyway.
After our project has been layed out an approved by our client, we would like our editorail/copy department to go in to the document thru InCopy and place annotations to references using text and graphic boxes and marginal brackets in the paste board into the page.
I have tried serveral ways of trying achieve this:
- placing empty graphics frames in the pasteboard in InDesign so they can bring in images files;
- one long text frame so copy could type and try and align copy to text to be annotated (the Art Director doesn't know where the annotations will be needed)
- placing the graphic elements in InDesign and having them maniuplate them to stretch around the text
All these ways are clunky - at the moment copy is marking up a PDF using notes and the AD is copy/paste from PDF to the InDeisgn file.
Do you know of any way or 3rd party software/plug-ins that would allow InCopy users to be able to either drawn a graphic element like boxes and lines through InCopy or able to change the dimesniions of a graphic frame in InCopy?
Hi,
I am trying to save all my stories in an assignment into a text document for editing. According to the Incopy manual I go File>Save content as>. But this option is grayed out on the menu, as are all the save options. Export to rtf only exports the current story not all stories into one document.
I have only the trial version of Incopy cc at the moment. Perhaps this is the problem? But nothing else seems to be disabled in the trial. I have tried reinstalling to no avail.
Any help much appreciated.
I have signed up for CC, and downloaded InDesign CC & InCopy CC. Now I find I must have InCopy 6 for a K4 workflow, and the K4 install won't recognize the InCopy CC I have loaded. So I am URGENTLY trying to install InCopy 6 as part of my CC membership (I was assured that I would be able to do so when I was researching the purchase). Can you point me to the correct link for that download, and will it recognize my CC account as paid?
Thanks.
Not been able to open Incopy CC. Also its documents. It takes you to search the web or select a software from the list. Creative cloud App manager shows that its installed. It worked the last time i used it after installing it.
Its not showing in the Start up - all programs. Tried also system search. Need Help... thankx
Alright, here’s my situation.
At my company we provide e-learning for the medical industry. As marketing products we use printed brochures, flyers and give-away course overviews.
These products all have simular information except for some small details.
For example…
Brochures have:
- course category
- course title
- course author
- course register icons
Flyers have:
- course category
- course title
- course author
Give-away course overviews have (see image below):
- course category
- course title
- course author
- course register icons
- course points

The register icons are small shapes and these shapes together with the points (ptn) and authors are placed in a table to align them.

I'm now using 1 Incopy file for all these products in a not very ideal way.
The way I use incopy is the following:
Because the usages of tables step 3 is a lot of work for me.
We want to hand over the updating of the incopy files to our editors, but for our editors the tables and shapes aren’t easy to create in incopy.
Now I was thinking of linking all paragraphs in separate text-containers and place the unwanted details outside the visible area in indesign, but this is a pain to do aswell.
I would like to know what other techniques I can use.
Is there a way to specify what paragraph from incopy I want to use in my indesign document?
Thanks in advance!
Hi I am working with InCopy and have been for a while now. Recently I had to have my entire Creative Suite reinstalled because of problems with the DPS part of it - and since then when I assign a text box to InCopy, the text box doesn't highlight. It used to go a light shade of pink which was very useful when working on large documents. Does anybody know where the option to highlight InCopy text boxes is?
Thanks
I'm working on a project that has a lot of text. I'd like to install Incopy on a coworkers computer to facilitate the workflow, or does she have to use Word? Is this a free program, or just included in CC? Thanks!
I get this error message when trying to import styles from InDesign 6 to an InCopy 5.5 document:

I am using InDesign CS6 (8.0.2). I cannot find any information on how to upgrade the plug-ins. Can anyone help?
Can anyone help?
I've shared a collaboration folder with some clients who are using PCs. When I create my incopy package my client opens the file from the server, makes the changes, updates the content and saves the file. The file does not update on the Creative Cloud server for me.
It looks like when he double clicks the icap file it's downloading a local file on the C: drive
Do I need to get my client to download and re-uplod the file for the workflow to work? It seems a bit clunky if that's the case.
Any guidance or assistance greatly appreciated as always

I am new to InCopy, but my typical InDesign workflow is to create a page layout I like and duplicate spreads or copy text boxes and edit each accordingly. With everything linked in InCopy if i want to copy (say a picture caption to a different picture) then they are both linked and if I changed the copied text box I inadvertently change the original. Is there a way to make the new box have a distinct link?
Hi, I'm new to Incopy so please bear with me. I've got a layout in InDesign, and I've got a Text in Incopy (which is formatted with specific font/pt/lineheight/etc.). When I place this Incopy file into the InDesign layout, an error message pops up saying that some of the fonts could not be found and will be replaced by default fonts. What can I do in Incopy so that the correct formatting will be applied in InDesign?
I've been trying to cancel the InCopy subscription as I no longer work for the nonprofit organization. However, they are still charging the company credit card even though no one else is using the inCopy subscription I bought. I've tried the Chat Forums but it's not available. It hasn't been available since last week. I've tried the phone option but I can't reach a live person to talk about it. What else can I do other than post on this forum?
