Hello,
Is it possible to get to know in which INDD documents an ICML file is used?
So, a sort of "reverse search" for ICML instances?
Please help!
Thank you!

I've installed and re-installed InCopy CC 2014 on a with Mac 10.9.4 , but it will crash right away on start-up
Processor is 1.8 Ghz Intel Core i5
I'm an editor working with a designer who, based on the tutorials we've read/watched, has properly prepared and exported an InDesign file for me to edit. When I try to check out the assignment, though, I get an error message reading "Unable to lock the following files: [file path]." The designer can check in and out fine, but I can't. Any advice?
Hi,
Does anyone please have a link to a decent guide that will explain how to set up a local server - so we can edit our InDesign project on InCopy from different Macs in our office.
Many thanks,
Dave
I designed an 88-page report in InDesgin CC 2015. After that, my designer helped me exported and files and created an InCopy file for the client to review and edit. We saved all the files in DropBox to share, my designer has no problem opening the InCopy file, but I have no luck. InCopy keeps crashing when I try to open the file. I worry this may happen to our client as well so we've tried many other ways and still couldn't fix the problem. Please help!
Hi, I am an editor and new to InCopy. When I am editing an assignment using Incopy, if I change the font type and size in the layout mode, will it change it
in the InDesign file and mess up with the layout? Or, can I change font anyway I want in the assingment files witho
ut the fear of messing up the design? (I know in the story mode, I can change the font type, size and line space according to my wish.)
Thanks
Anjana
Some of my users here would like to change the default options in the save as menu I know there is a way but many Google searches later and digging through the menus I haven't been able to find the option.
I purchased the Master Collection 5.5. In various tutorials I am studying I have found InCopy mentioned, but I do not see a shortcut link to it anywhere on my PC (when I click on the buying guide, it immediately takes me to the suite comparison as if it should be present so that's really throwing me off .. and this is the Master Collection - you'd assume pretty much everything from Adobe would be in here)
When I Google InCopy most links point me to InDesign posts. Are they that integrated, but InCopy is not included in the Master Collection (of all suites)? or am I just wrong?
We are having InCopy stories that generate errors that I cannot find much information about online. This happens in CS4 and CS5 documents. We have no documents that originated in CS5.5 so I don't know if InCopy CS5.5 will CAUSE the issue, but I know that CS5 files opened in CS 5.5 have seen this issue manifest. Files that are functioning normally at check-in will just open next time with one of these two errors. No crash or strange behavior before suddenly the error appears. We can have dozens of stories in a document (or hundreds) and one will corrupt in this manner. An hour, a day, a week, maybe a month later, another file will die. There seems to be no discrenable pattern.
The errors are "Not Well Formed" and "Junk After Document Element." I can open the .icml files in a text editor and find and (usually) fix the problem, but wonder how the files are corrupting? The "junk after document element" files will have a complete duplicate of the content of the file starting immediatley following the </document> tag. It is as though instead of writing just the changes to the file when checked in, InCopy appends a whole new document, beginning with the <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="yes"?> tag.
The "not well formed" files appear almost the same, but instead of the document starting over after the </document> tag, it will have a copy of itself inserted willy-nilly in the middle of the file. This one is much harder to fix…
Has anyone else seen anything like this?
Primarily CS5
Mac OS 10.6.8
Files stored AFP on Windows Servers with ExtremeZ/IP
A client and I have used InCopy for several years with no issues. After upgrading to CS6, though, we are both getting this error when opening InDesign files that have embedded preflight profiles:
Missing Plug-ins, Cannot Open File
Package and Preflight.InDesignPlugin
I've tested this on two machines (both Macs) and can confirm that it happens only with embedded preflight profiles. My client is having the same experience on his brand-new iMac (with no previous CS6 installations).
Documents without embedded preflight profiles open normally.
Extension Manager reports that the Package and Preflight plugin is loaded -- but from a nonexistent folder:
This folder existed in CS5.5 but not now. Both my client and I have uninstalled and reinstalled InCopy CS6 with no change.
After clicking through the error to load the document, selecting Option+Command+InCopy > About InCopy to display component information shows that the plugin is both "used" and "missing."
No big deal (we can click through this) but annoying and strange. Anyone else running into this?
Steve
Adobe InCopy CS6 8.0 and 8.0.1
Mac OS X 10.8.2, 10.7.4, and 10.6.8.
I have a file that throws a
"Missing plugin
EBookExport.InDesignPlugin
The document "xxx.indd uses one or more plug-ins which are not currently avaiable on your system. Do you want to open it anyway?"
error on document open. This document has been opened on multiple Macs using the all three of the most recent operating systems listed above. Updating InCopy to 8.0.1 did not change anything.
Interestingly, in Extension Manager, EBookExport.InDesignPlugin does not show up in the list as an available plugin. It is in the InCopy applications folder: Applications/Adobe\ InCopy\ CS6/Plug-Ins/Filters/EBookExport.InDesignPlugin It does show up as an InDesign plugin, and it is loaded…
A clean install of InCopy CS6 from the Adobe disc on a new Mac generates the same error when opening the document. Opening the document in InDesign and exporting to idml, then re-opening makes no difference. Same error.
The root issue here is obviously that the extension is not recognized. I changed permisssions on the folder to no avail. As stated earlier, a fresh install on a new iMac and the extension will not load.
Anyone else seen anything like this?

Incopy: This is a problem which causes continuous grief to everyone working on our copydesk. When zoomed in to any degree in layout view, editing an article with copyfit feature in operation, if the copyfit status goes from green "copyfit" status to red "Over x lines" status. the page view immediately zooms out to fit whole page, centered in the screen. This means the text becomes illegibly small, and time is wasted zooming back in and moving the view around to rediscover the text that was being edited.
My question: is there any way to stop this behaviour? To allow the copyfit status to go red, but for it not to alter the page view/zoom?
Thank you!
I have worked in a server based InCopy workflow without difficulty in the past, but am working with an author using a remote workflow and am having a devil of a time.
I create InDesign (CC) files and package them for her as ICAP files. She opens them fine and makes changes in CS6. She repackages them as IDAP files and returns them to me. When I try to open her files I get this:
First of all today is 5/6/2014. Note the date in the error message.
If I select the "Save the contents . . ." option, I would expect the assignment files to be saved and that the document would open in InDesign. But I get this:
Please ignore the differences in chapter numbers, I captured these shots while trying different files. The upshot is that none of the listed conditions in the error message is true.
Can anyone put me on to a solution to this roadblock?
I should mention that this is not a problem with about half of the authors IDAP file.
i want to purchase the font of Cronos MM ,but there is only cronos Pro is on sale . whether i can buy cronos MM on abobe store ? or is free for us to use. cause we decided to use cornos MM as our major font for a college branding project . ok I am trying InCopy for the first time. How do you put an image in a document? Started my first document. file->place->image.jpg and nothing. I tried drag and drop and still nothing. I read the documentation here and it did no good.
This is InCopy CC on a pc, stand-alone document.

For several yours, InCopy CS2 was being used in one of our Macs in the office. Out of the blue, it suddenly asked to "Personalize your software". It was then asking for the serial number. I typed in the serial number we have used for years and years, but now it said it was an invalid serial number.
I've reinstalled InCopy and in the installation process, it asks for a serial number. The same serial number I've been using was accepted. Then after the installation process, when I launch InCopy, it again asks to "Personalize your software". The serial number that was accepted during the installation is now being rejected.
The same thing happens to the InDesign CS2 software in the same machine. Out of the blue, it suddenly asked to "Personalize your software".
All other CS2 applications (Photoshop, Illustrator) are working properly.
I have followed what is advised here but with no luck: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/331/331943.html
I hope somebody out there has a solution.
Is there a way to count a selected block of text to know how many words and paragraph returns with InCopy? InDesign has the info panel but I can't find an equivelent for InCopy? If not, is there a way to write a script or does one exist to count? I will be doing list of people and always will know the final number and confirming the count will help confirm no one's name was skipped.
